10:43p.m.   05.24.2001 - "banquet | YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!!!!"   by Frank

Yesterday was finally the banquet, the last meeting of the entire track team of 2001. Everyone who came relaxed from about 4:30p.m. to 5:30p.m. while playing volleyball, frisby or whatever was possible. Then was dinner time. And following the dinner the event everybody was probably waiting for. The awarding of the athletes. I think everyone enjoiyed the coming together and had a fun on this beautiful day. What stays in the end are some more unforgetable memories and, with some people, tears... ;)

To help keeping memories and contacts alive I ask YOU foR HELP. If you were a member of the 2001 track team I ask you to send me some information that you want to be shown on the contact page, which will be available soon. Send me e-mail addresses, icq numbers, your hotmail or AIM addresses, your phone or cellphone numbers... anything you want. The idea is to keep friendships and contacts this way. PLEASE HELP!    [ for contact information with me please check the contact page ]

In the Photoalbum under the 'Photos'-Section all pictures are now resizeable. Simply click on one preview picture and a new window with the enlarged image opens up.

Today during Bulletin at school a few students had the chance to see the probably dummest movie ever. "My Grandpa made it!" stated Philip Wessels at the beginning of the movie. The movie is actually rentable at Blockbuster. For more information about the titel, etc., ask Philip Wessels ;-)

05:02p.m.   05.10.2001 - "Uniforms"   by Frank

For almost everybody the season is over now. DON'T FORGET to turn in your uniforms. Give 'em to coach Scharp or attach a piece of paper with your name on it to the uniform and leave it in his office. If you do not turn in your uniform you'll not be able to take the exams!

Yesterday right after school there was a meet for all track members in the gym. For everyone who missed it: We talked about the banquet. It will take place in 2 weeks from yesterday (should be May the 23rd, a wednesday). After the meet a lot of people stayed and we played volleyball for a while (including coach Scharp!). I think it was fun for the most.

02:17a.m.   05.07.2001 - "second upload | Regionals"   by Frank

There is a new page update. More under Sitehistory...

Early in the morning of May 3rd the qualified boys and girls met at Bloomingdale High. They left about 7:00 a.m. with a charter bus for Regionals, which they had to qualify for last weekend at Districts. The team came back around noon on friday the 4th after they spent the night in a hotel.

11:39p.m.   05.01.2001 - "first upload"   by Frank

Today is May 1st and the page is for the first time uploaded. The design is basicaly finished. The content needs to be added.

To whom it may concern:

ATTENTION! If you don't want to read any complainments or critics stop reading now!
I'm pretty much angry with Bloomingdale Senior High School's (B'dale) policy. Though I didn't qualify for the regionals I would've enjoyed to go together with the team to the event as it was my only and last opportunity to experience a thing like that as a student in the US. Unfortunately it didn't help to tell the coach my wish. He has to follow the rules of his bosses. The person at B'dale responsible for such trips and absences, Mr. Davis, however did NOT give permission to let me go.
It's not a matter of money (bus was almost empty, could've paid my own food -- other schoolmembers fly(!) to their competitions) but a matter of stupidity. I don't know Mr. Davis, so I can only write with the facts I heard (which I believe by the way). But he is definetely in charge of this kind of business. Ironically B'dale doesn't really seem to care about exchange students. Why I say that? Well, exchange students at Bloomingdale Senior High School are not allowed to be in a higher grade than grade 11. This makes it impossible for exchange students to graduate THOUGH they have more than the necessary credits. Most of the educational systems in Europe have a higher standart than the American and because of that the needed credits for a gradutation just had to be converted to the American system. I know it is possible because there are in fact states in the US which let exchange student graduate (I know some). So why doesn't B'dale? Well, either because they are scared or they don't care (I favorize the last one).
What I'm saying now is that if B'dale doesn't give exchange students the same rights as American students (the graduation right) then they should allow us other things, like for example experiencing American school events like the regionals in track. It's one sad and pethatic performance and schoolpolicy that as well Mr. Davis as the B'dale shows.
